STANDING COMMITTEES
We are looking for interested people to join our committees. Participation in one or more committees is open to all COMTO members in good standing. In addition to committee members, each committee is headed by a chairperson and vice chairperson. Committees typically meet virtually once per month for one hour. The COMTO DC chapter president selects the chairperson for each committee and those chairpersons are responsible for selecting their vice chairperson and committee members.
Scholarship Committee
The committee is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the COMTO DC chapter’s scholarship program. Activities include setting the fundraising goal and coordinating with other committees to help us reach that goal through activities and outreach, establishing the eligibility requirements and selection criteria for scholarships, reviewing and scoring all scholarship applications, and coordinating with the Program Logistics committee to plan the Annual Signature Scholarship Award and Fundraiser Event.

Professional Development Committee
The committee is responsible for strategic leadership for professional development program activities. This may include organizing outreach events for “lunch and learns”, leadership programs, professional skills mentorship, and physical and mental wellness.

Cultural Impact and Small Business Engagement Committee
The committee is responsible for developing programs and activities that increase awareness and understanding of our diverse membership and that support the needs of our members who own or work for small businesses.

Membership Committee
The committee is responsible for growing the size of the COMTO DC chapter by soliciting feedback from current members about what they would like to gain from being a member; highlighting member achievements, maintaining an accurate roster of current members, and ensuring that members remain in good standing.

Fundraising Committee
The committee is responsible for COMTO DC’s corporate partnership program and other sponsorships that generate revenue to support chapter operations and our scholarship program. Key actions include creating experiential marketing initiatives and contacting current and prospective corporate partners

Communications Committee
The committee is responsible for developing, updating and monitoring the COMTO DC’s communications policies, social networking accounts, electronic discussion groups, as well as recommending new ways for COMTO DC to communicate with its members and other interested parties through alternative media.

Program Logistics Committee
The committee is responsible for supporting all chapter program activities and event coordination, regardless of which other committee is the lead organizer. Activities typically include identifying suitable venues and vendors (e.g., caterers, photographers, etc.) for events, evaluating price quotes, coordinating with venues and vendors for invoicing and payment, and organizing event staffing and support by member volunteers.

Legislative Liaison
This person is responsible for researching and disseminating information to the COMTO DC chapter leaders and members related to transportation policy changes at the federal, state, and local levels. This person may solicit help from others (i.e., form a committee) to assist with these activities. The Legislative Liaison works closely with the Communications Committee to share pertinent policy news.
